Who issues the IEC?
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issues IEC based on the applicable online application process. Shree Meeracorp provides documentation and application assistance.
Is IEC mandatory for every service exporter?
The requirement for services or technology is not identical to that for goods. Foreign Trade Policy benefits and specified services or technologies can affect whether an IEC is required. Review your activity before applying.
Does IEC need an annual update?
IEC holders must update or confirm their details electronically during the April–June period each year under DGFT requirements. An unchanged profile still needs the prescribed confirmation.
Does IEC alone authorise every shipment?
No. Product restrictions, customs requirements, bank processes and sector-specific permissions may apply separately to the proposed trade.
